Five Search Warrants Brings 22 Charges Under The Criminal Code

The Organized Crime Agency of B.C. working in conjunction with their law enforcement partners, Port Moody Police, Delta Police, and the Vancouver Police Department, executed search warrants on five private residences throughout the City of Vancouver this weekend.

This two week investigation, initiated by the Port Moody Police Department in relation to a serial grower, culminated in the arrest of ten Vietnamese adults ages 27 to 41 years.

Twenty-two charges under the Criminal Code as well as the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act will be laid later this week.

Seized in the raids were Marihuana totaling $378,000, Grow operation equipment totaling $16,000, $5,717 cash and $5,000 in smuggled cigarettes.

In the houses at the time of police entry were nine children, one of whom is two days old. The Ministry of Children and Families has been advised.

Chief Officer Bev Busson of the Organized Crime Agency of B.C. said that this is another example of how organized crime continues to have a significant negative impact on all British Columbians.
