Burnaby Drug Seizure Nets $183,000 In Marihuana

On March 07 2000, police members of the Organized Crime Agency of B.C. executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances act at a private residence in the 300 block of Stratford avenue in Burnaby. Seized in the search were: 100 marihuana plants valued at $127,000 dollars 20 pounds of dried marihuana packaged in one pound lots valued at $56,000 dollars and numerous pieces of grow operation equipment and paraphernalia.
Charged with Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances act are a 38 year old Burnaby man and a 29 year old Burnaby woman. A nine month old baby boy was also present and was identified as the child of both accused. The child was turned over to the custody of the grandfather and the Ministry of Children and Families has been notified.
